# Variants

ResponsiveAds has a number of ways which you can easily and quickly create variants of your ads.

### Definition

**Variant types:** ResponsiveAds supports three different ways to make one creative do the work of many. Each solves a different problem — use the table below to work out which one fits your use case.

### Comparison Table

| | Condition Variants | Data Variants (CSV) | Data Feed (JSON) |
| --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | :----------------------------------: | :------------------------------: | :-----------------------------: |
| Changes live, based on the viewer's conditions (location, weather, time, language, URL) |                   ✅                  |                 ❌                |                ✅                |
| Requires uploading a file to populate variants                                          |                   ❌                  |                 ✅                |                ✅                |
| Produces separate, exportable versions of the ad                                        |                   ❌                  |                 ✅                |                ❌                |
| Good for large sets of named variations (e.g. 100+ dealerships)                         |                   ❌                  |                 ✅                |                —                |
| Good for a carousel that updates from an external source                                |                   ❌                  |                 ❌                |                ✅                |
| Set up via | Conditions Table (on the Deployment) | CSV upload (on the Summary Page) | JSON feed / API (in the editor) |

{% hint style="info" %}
**Rule of thumb:** if the ad should react to *who's looking at it right now*, use Condition Variants. If you need a fixed, deliverable version *per named thing* (a dealer, a store, a region), use Data Variants. If the content should update on its own from a live source — most often a carousel — use a Data Feed.
{% endhint %}
